Fence Installation & Repair in Bloomington, IN

Bloomington sits on karst limestone, and that single fact shapes almost every fence we build here. Bedrock runs shallow, and it does not run evenly — ground that digs cleanly at one post can be solid rock four feet away. Sinkholes, old sinking streams and hollow voids are ordinary parts of the Monroe County subsurface, not rare surprises.

That means post depth is a judgment call made on site, not a number copied off a spec sheet. We plan for it: staged digging along the line, adjusted footing depth where the rock comes up, and bracing rather than brute force when a hole bottoms out early. A crew that treats Bloomington like flat Midwestern farmland ends up with shallow posts and a fence that leans within two winters.

The other Bloomington variable is how different the neighborhoods are from one another. Century-old streets near campus have mature trees, tight setbacks and old property lines that rarely match the plat. Newer subdivisions on the east side have HOA rules on height, style and which side of the post the finished face goes. Rental property near the university needs something that survives tenant turnover and takes little maintenance. Those are three different fences, all inside the same city limits.
